There are 2 types of problems with Everton, the current sort where we are stripped of our regular defenders and leadership... Without Neville, Jags, or Lescott (sorry!) there is no one to take charge of our defence... What little I've seen over last week suggests an entire defence playing at the level of Tony Hibbert, out of position, unable to clear, or even pass, the ball out of trouble, and collectively clueless... I have not seen anything to impress me about Heitinga or Neill or even Distin, though I have been told they are decent players... The way they are going at the moment they will be decent players in the Championship very soon... I have seen better football in Sundrive Park... It's inexcusable and unacceptable, and Moyes has to sort it out... That's his job. (sorry, I'm having another DT moment, a lot of them these days! It must the the swine flu!)...
Anyway if we cannot beat Stoke or Wolves what can we expect from Villa, Shitty, Shite, Ure etc? Any team that runs with us will cause us serious problems... teams are snaffling up chances for fun... 11 goals conceded 3 games... Until we have proper players in defence we should go 4-2-3-1... that's what real tq thinks...
The 2nd problem is more serious. The Shite lose 4 games in a row and their world is collapsing and their manager on the verge of being sacked. The Shite have persisted and persevered sometimes with little or no quality over the past couple of decades simply on the fundamental principle that it is not acceptable to lose games and that the aim of the club and team is to win trophies...
Everton FC may have had this principle embedded in their makeup in the 1980s but it has not been there since then...
Moyes has or had it in his makeup and if he has not got it now any longer well then Everton will have squandered the progress of the last 7 years and last 2 in particular will have been wasted...
It should never be acceptable to lose at Everton. But for a long long time it has not mattered enough.
We are on a downhill slope, we will soon be in crisis, just 3 points from relegation zone... A lot of fans think it will turn around, maybe even against Villa, but I don't think so... I cannot see an improvement until we meet the weaker teams at Xmas, and think we will be lucky to get to next stage Europa... if "lucky" is the word...
"We now have something to build on" it says on the official site with a big picture of Yobo... but he's now not talking with the manager... and what we have to build on is slipping away game by game...
CK says Kenwright is to blame, but if BK wants to make money from Everton he needs the team to do well...
If Moyes still cares he needs get this team up and running and winning...
Right now it looks as if we are in for the sort of dire season we endured each year in late 90s and early 00s. Right now it looks as if the ghost of Everton recent past is sitting on our shoulder and laughing out loud...
The fightback must begin Saturday.
Accept nothing less.
That's what Everton for Ever means.
Or should mean.
