Posted by Jack Congratulations on producing such a great site and raising the issue of the docks. Liverpool docks are a fabulous resource that are a legacy from our forefathers to the people of the city. They were built by men with talent, vision and skill, qualities which are sadly lacking in leaders past and present. They are being squandered by petty officials who allow themselves to be influenced by 'money men' whose only concern is short term gain. Not withstanding the bombing, what is happening to the docks is typical of what has happened to Liverpool since the war, it has had it's heart ripped out by people who are clueless. As an ex merchant seaman I have seen many of the world's great sea ports and can say that most of them improve with age, any develpoment which takes place adds to and compliments previous characteristics, culture and infrastructure. Not Liverpool,.. how many people who left the city even twenty years ago could come back and find their way around? not many I bet. With your knowledge and vision, you should be put in charge of the city planning department.
