Fred and Tess are in the break room. Fred is eating a cheeseburger while Tess munches on a salad.
Fred: I see you got the PPV predictions up
Tess: Yep. They are done
Fred: You got a lot of criticism
Tess: None for the accuracy of my predictions. I am 288/ 117. That’s a 71% correct ratio. I think Mr Sim would say that is pretty good,
Fred: How about what HISC said. Remember we can’t prove it was actually Mr Hawkeye. They accused you of dissing newcomers while promoting Scerbo
Tess: I have already admitted I don’t watch major network television. I don’t know who those women are. I didn’t know who Scerbo was until I got this job, but she has been around for a year and a half so I know her. Remember HISC tends to criticize any fighter who threatens their hold on the flyweights. Remember how they treated Hudgens. Same for Cassie
Fred: We had that Canadian publication questioning your integrity.
Tess: My integrity has been questioned before and guess what. It always comes out of Canada. No where else. The first couple times it was Mr Sim or one of his mouthpieces. I don’t like my integrity to be questioned. I think you know I can’t be bought.
Fred: Seems they are tired of you referring to your friends.
Tess: That’s because they probably don’t have any. When I do predictions i have to reveal my friendships. If I didn’t, then I would get criticized for not revealing them.
Fred: Well then you had Anonymous questioning your morals
Tess: That was going way too far. There is no more moral person in the world than my mama and she raised me to be moral and I am. I would never do anything that went against what mama taught me. On the other hand, that coward who hides behind the term “anonymous” obviously has to pay for love. He or she seems to know where to find it and what it costs.
Fred: It wasn’t McCarthy?
Tess: Of course it wasn’t McCarthy. If she has something to say about me, she will say it to my face and take her chances. That’s one thing I admire about her. She is up front and doesn’t hide behind some fake name. She just dissed Dancing With The Stars. Good for her.
Fred: So what do you see going on in the FCBA this year. Let’s start with the flyweights.
Tess: I do the predictions and reviews on flyweight bouts but you know I really don’t follow them. I certainly don’t want to get Mr Hawkeye on my case again. He might stop sending the spiced chocolate wafers. I just love those
Fred: So?
Tess: I think it will be all about Panettiere, Scerbo and HISC. The cracker stable will be a little less dominate since Danes is moving to bantam but Portman, Williams, Kreuk and Kunis should be enough to hold sway over the other stables
Fred: The bantams?
Tess: While not my favorite division but it is the deepest in talent. Spears, McAdams and Munn should shine. I think Munn and Spears will hold titles. Mack could bring Front Street their first title. Michalka, as I understand it, is moving to lightweight and I really think Cuthbert has been overachieving and will go into a funk. There are a lot of bantams that could move quickly up. The lack of bouts could stymie some of them
Fred: Now the lightweights.
Tess: Like I previously said, I think there will be four different champs. Of course we have Biel who is a P4P candidate. Look for Peregrym, Palicki and Strahovski to have very good years. Torv could make a move if she can get a bout with a top ten fighter
Fred: How about my favorite? I can’t believe those idiots left her off the top bikini bodies
Tess: Miss Ginny will get what she wishes for
Fred: She said she didn’t want to hear that. Why do you have to irritate her
Tess: I’m not. I love MIss Ginny. She’s the only female manager and I am the only female FCBA reporter. We got to stick together. I have already said Charlize would lose four straight and have a bad first quarter. That was before she lost to Righetti. After seeing all the nice things Sim said about her, I have changed my mind. She will have a bad year. How bad depends on how long it takes to convince Miss Ginny that Charlize can’t handle the top ten any more. They all saw how Righetti made a wreck of her. They will follow that blueprint
Fred: Ok she lost to Righetti, who else
Tess: She had a zero chance of beating Righetti. If she fights Biel, she has a zero chance. I know she beat Biel twice but that was years ago. Charlize is not the fighter she was then. Against Strahovski she has a 20% chance. Against Cole, a 10% chance and against Yustman who is not in the top ten a 50% chance. Against Palicki zero chance and Peregrym a 10% chance.
The Welters
Tess: It’s like a private club. Regan, Righetti and Landry. It’s a pretty weak division. There are some old hands and I mean old, like Romjin and Nolin whose best days are far behind them. Then you have Loken, Wilson and Keibler, who show up occasionally but are not in the same class. Of course, there are some like Bloodgood and Sobieski but I don’t see them threatening the big three
Fred: What do you see for the Hall Of Fame
Tess: One new member is a sure thing. Possibly two, I think by the end of next year there will be no more members to be inducted. Way too many fighters for too few bouts. Everybody welcomes newbies, but every one added just means less fights for the rest. Fighters simply won’t get the needed number of fights and we will not lower our standards. If the Hall Of Fame becomes a club that no one gets into, so be it We will probably have eleven PPV’s, 12 Asylum cards. I expect Miss Ginny will do some Academy PPVs and Bonzo will chip in but with the number of fighters, that is not enough bouts by far.
Fred: You have the BBU and The Aussies
Tess: That’s amateur hour
Fred: I can’t believe you said that. It’s a good thing you are not in charge of our foreign relations. We would be at war with everyone. Why are you eating salad
Tess: I don’t want to get fat like Aquilera. You seen the pictures of her recently?
Fred: Sorry I asked. Let’s talk about something else
Tess: You asked the questions
Fred: There’s a bottle to Tito’s vodka in the frig. Let’s have some
Tess: I will get it. Life is good
