Fred is in his office as Tess walks in,
Fred; “You all packed?”
Tess: “Yep, leaving late this afternoon”
Fred: “ Wrong, you are leaving now”
Tess: “Why?”
Fred: “You are going to Miami this afternoon. Spend the night there and head to Philly in the morning. I want you to cover the real opening of the baseball season. Your beloved Cardinals are opening against Miami”
Tess: “I can’t believe it. You’re a dear.”
Fred: “Before you leave, what about the Asylum card?”
Tess: “We have been through that about three times. Remember, we thought the card would go last week. I hope it goes this week. I got a call into Avril, and another to Jenny O’Dell to see if she has been notified.”
Fred: “Anything else?”
Tess: “I have been thinking about the Lioness Club roster. You know most new stables come in with a bunch of newbies on some second class TV show and expect them to blow the socks off of the rest of the stables. You tell them they are badly mistaken, and they get their panties in a wad. Lioness has chosen their opening staff carefully. First they kept in small. They picked up Yustman and Mendes. Now Yustman hasn’t fought much in the last two years but she has a 62% win ratio. She is in a tough division with the likes of Palikci, Biel, Theron, StravHotski. Smackey had her rated at 39. She’s a real dark horse. I was surprised at Mendes record. Again she hasn’t fought much in the last four years but she has an outstanding 70% win ratio. I agree with Miss Ginny, that age is going to be a factor here. We will just have to see”
Fred: “And the other two?”
Tess: “Freeman doesn’t have a winning record but she has had a big KO win over Biel and she has a KO win over Nolin, not so big. She has shown she is dangerous. How she will do among the welters is a question. It’s a division of big hitters and she can hit. I can see her breaking into the top ten. Kind of strange there. We got a three fighter welter division that has a lightweight as champion. Go figure. Lowndes, I don’t know anything about but I think it is a good start.’
Fred: “By the way did you see the Jeopardy show The Wiz and Rufus put on?”
Tess: “ Yes and I have a question and answer also, The answer is zero”
Fred: “And the question”
Tess; “What is the chance that Brooklyn Decker has of making any headway with Smackey”
Fred: “You’re pretty confident”
Tess: “ I’m hotter. Got better legs, better body and better face”
Fred: “And humility. You’re ego is getting out of control”
Tess: “ Look, you got to have ego. I spend days among the most beautiful women in the world, running around half naked. if I didn’t have an ego, I would feel inadequate, go home and cry every night and just be miserable. It’s the only way you can survive in this business. Smackey doesn’t have that problem, He can go around and gorge his eyes on the sexy ladies. I have to compete. I have to work out. I have taken courses on how to look my best. How use makeup. How to emphasize my better features. I have to believe. It’s not easy.”
Fred: “I feel your pain.”
Tess: “Thanks for the sarcasm”
Fred: “Clyde had the plane ready. Get out of here. Have a good time. See you Monday.”
Tess: “I’m gone”
