TESS VALMORE
After the smoke had cleared around the last round of fights, I ended up with what Fred termed, a totally unacceptable 13-14 result. My record since I started doing the predictions at Tractorpull degenerated to 333-150 or a 69% correct ratio, below TP’s 70% standard. Not only that, but I had to endure the humiliation of Smackey’s gloating about predicting Theron’s championship win. Below are the predictions for the upcoming PPV. Sim, I would appreciate a little cooperation here, OK
CRUZ/ MILLER The two have fought three times before with Miller winning two, the last one in late February. Miller is younger and slightly bigger but not enough to make a difference. Miss Ginny fired Cruz. She doesn’t fire fighters with a future That’s good enough for me. Miller by a TKO late
BECKINSALE/ McCARTHY I have already predicted this fight but since then some important facts have come to light. Mainly that the Wiz laid off a “rock” on Beckinsale. I had previously predicted a McCarthy win. A girl can change her mind. I can and do
Beckinsale by a TKO
FREEMAN/ BJORLIN It’s Freeman's first bout since joining the Lioness Club Of America. There is not much to choose between the two in age or size but a vast difference in experience. I think that the experience will be the deciding factor. Bjorlin by a decision
PEREGRYM/ HATHAWAY In her last bout Hathaway defeated Katy Perry. That being said, Hathaway is simply way out of league here. This is a bout that should give Missy as many rounds as she wants. Peregrym by a KO
DUFF/ CLARKSON I can’t say this fight excites me. Neither have been all that active in the last three years, and neither have been all that successful. Duff did shock the boxing world (not the publications by the same name) by taking the title from Dushku. She lost it on the first defense. I am going to go with Duff to win by a decision
MADEKWE/ LACHMAN I don’t know anything about either of these two. I note they have fought in the FCBA before, but the names meant nothing to me. I have no idea about the abilities of either, but I will go with Lachman to win. Why? She’s a blonde
SCAGLIOTTI/ LEYODEN Leyoden has done quite well in the BBU, but not so good recently in the FCBA, She has vastly more experience than Scagliotti, like 85 fights more. Scagliotti upset Carter earlier this year, which got her attention. Scagliotti is 14 years younger than Leyoden. I don’t think that is going to matter in this fight. Leyoden by a decision
ROBBIE/ MUMFORD A pair of newbies. This is Mumford’s first fight. It is Robbie’s third. She beat Ashley Greene her last time out. I’ll go with Robbie for no particular reason
KUNIS/ HALE Why waste a lot of time. Kunis by a KO
DANES/ HAZELL. This bout is similar to the one above. Granted Hazell could land a lucky punch, but I will bet she won’t. Danes by a wide decision
STEWART/ CYRUS I have never been impressed by Cyrus. On the other hand Stewart looks like a comer. Stewart by a TKO
BROOK/ NOLIN I have to admit that I am not a fan of either. Nolin is getting up in years and hasn’t been all that active. If Brook is smart, she will wear a steel bikini, watch out for loose laces on Nolin’s gloves and try not to get head butted. If she does that she can win this fight. Let us only hope. Brook by a KO
GARNER/ LAWRENCE One of the more interesting fights on the card. A dynamic youngster vs a veteran Hall Of Fame member. Garner who turns 40 in three days, is old enough to be Lawrence’s mother. Lawrence was 12 when Garner had her first FCBA fight. Lawrence shows big promise, but she is facing on the great lightweights trying to make her swan tour a thing to remember. I think that Jennifer has the experience and the boxing craft to win this fight, particularly if it goes the distance. We pick Garner by a decision
CUCUO/ SWANEPOEL About the only advantage Swanepoel has is a 3 1/2 inch height advantage, but I can’t forget her shocking upset of Tricia Helfer. If Swanepoel can extend, she has some power. Cucuo will have to get inside and stay there. I think Cucuo is too crafty and will win by a decision
SCHERZINGER/ A. J. COOK Cook had a rough time at lightweight and has moved down to bantam. Scherzinger has the better record, but I think Cook has faced the better competition. That should serve Cook well. Cook by a decision
HUDGENS/ HEMMENS. Not much to choose between the two as for as age and size go. Hemmens has had three fights and lost two of those. Wasn’t Hudgens known by her own admission as “the conqueror of Mishy?” That’s more than Hemmens can claim. Hudgens by a TKO
HEWETT/ M. KELLY It’s no secret that I hate post fight humiliations, and Miss Hewitt is one of the worst offenders. Therefore, I don’t like to see her win. Minka who got off to a great start has suddenly come to a screeching halt by losing all three of her fights this year. She will get back on track. Kelly by a KO
RIPA/ ANWAR Y’all are not going to believe this but I actually watch “Burn Notice” on occasion. A couple of years ago, this would have known as a “cougar match” Both are 41. Anwar is plain ancient for getting into the ring for the first time at her age. Now days however, it seems that we are seeing a lot of “older fighters”, Ripa has been around for a long time but has won only one fight in the last five years. I like Anwar in this one. She wins her first fight by a KO
STRAHOVSKI/ WINSTEAD The two have split four matches in what is beginning to look like the best of seven. Winstead has had a bad 26 months losing nine out of 11. Yvonne on the other hand is coming off big wins over Helfer and Garner. Strahovski’s win streak will continue. Strahovski by a KO
LIMA/ REFAELI A pair of models for the Ice Hotel title. Lima is the bigger of the two and is on a four fight win streak including wins over Brook and Lively. I think she is more than Refaeli can handle Lima by a KO
PARE/ THERON It should be no surprise to anyone that I haven’t seem Mad Men, and therefore do not know much about Pare. Everybody knows that Charlize has this first fight against an opponent jinx. This is not only Pare’s first fight against Theron but her first fight period. This is exactly the kind of fight that Charlize will demonstrate her overwhelming over-confidence and get her butt kicked. Yeah, it’s that kind of fight, but I can’t honestly predict that Charlize will lose. Theron by a KO. I wouldn’t be too shocked if it turns out differently
TISDALE/ CARTER Tisdale lost her first three fights. Since then she has put up a sterling 12-4 record and took the title from Portman. Carter has a fine record but been only so-so for the last year. I think Tisdale will retain her title by a decision
McADAMS/ CAMPBELL For the bantam title. This is the seventh fight between the two but Campbell has already won four. This is a big fight for Neve. At 38, this well may be her last chance at a title. Is she wins, she can bring Front Street it’s first championship. Campbell has beaten McAdams the last three times they fought, but that was four years ago. Have times changed? I don’t know, but I am going to bet they haven’t, and Front Street will be celebrating. Campbell by a decision
PALICKI/ HELFER Palicki is younger and bigger. She hits harder. Helfer on the other hand is probably the best defensive fighter in the FCBA. She has by far the better record. I guess I am guilty of favoring fighters I like. That’s the case here. Palicki retains her title by a KO
PERRY/ ATKINSON. Perry ended 2011 by losing three straight bouts by a KO. This year, she seems to have righted the ship. Atkinson hasn’t had many fight and has a losing record, but she does have a KO over Swanepoel. I think Perry hits harder. Perry by a KO
MEESTER/ HYLAND. Sim says Meester is “maturing into a solid-bodied veteran”. I buy that. Hyland has had only one fight and lost that. This is her second fight and her second loss. Meester by a decision
UPTON/ MILLER. Upton is younger and bigger than her opponent. Miller doesn’t have much experience, but she has more than Upton. She also has a winning record with wins over Swanepoel and Decker. I have a strange feeling that Upton is going to win this fight but I can’t predict she will win. Miller by a TKO
KRUEK/ LOVATO Kruek has the misfortune to be a stable with four Hall Of Fame members and a hot young fighter. I think she is fighting to keep her job at the Consortium. A loss here could be the loss that gets her her walking papers. I don’ think that is going to happen. Kruek by a TKO
VANDERVOORT/ MENOUNOS. Vandervoort has done much better fighting a bantam that at lightweight. In fact her record at lightweight is dismal. Menounos claim to fame is couple wins over Swanepoel and one over Jill Wagner. I am concerned for Vandervoort that this fight is at lightweight, but i go with Vandervoort to win by a decision
