As a signing service I do not hire anyone with less than 2 years experience as a notary. You need to have a laser printer with PCL drivers - and the HP printer is the only one with the native PCL drivers. Other printers can only emulate them. You need to be flexible with your time, as some signings are in the evening, some in the morning, some in the afternoon. And you have to meet with the borrowers at their convenience, not yours. You need to be prepared to wait 30 days for payment from a signing - sometimes longer, and some companies have a history of not paying the notaries. As for what it pays, as independent contractors we set our own fees.

First, be aware that Florida is a saturated state for notaries and signing agents.
When you have the notary experience you need to learn all you can about loan documents.
You need a fax machine, a cell phone, and a DSL or cable connection is preferable over dial up, as dial up can be so slow when you are having to download loan docs to print out.
