Posted by Giselle I received a request for a Sat signing, which went smooth. I returned the loan package on time. Next, I received an email from the SS stating WMC needs a jurat from me since it is holding payment on the assignment. I sent an email back to the SS stating a jurat was attached since the one provided on the loan documents had an outdated wording. I received no response from the SS. I called the contact person given for WMC. She said I needed to send another jurat to them. I asked what was the reason for her request. She said I have replaced their jurat for my own. I explained there was a new jurat wording requirement for CA, but she refuse to listen and asked me if I was going to send one or not. I said the proper jurat was attached to the documents requiring a jurat notirization and I could not send another without having the person appear before me, but I was available to go back if I needed to the borrower's house. She got really upset. I said the new jurat wording has been set by the SOS and I could not change it. She said she has been using the old jurat without any problems and she hang up. The next thing I called the SS again and explained I did attached a jurat as requested. He said he had been a notary for 12+ yrs and he did not understand why I attached another jurat if one was provided. I said, due to the new requirement in CA by the SOS. He still refused to understand the reasoning behind it. He then asked me to send another jurat or even better an acknowledgement. I said the only manner I could do that was if I am sent the document in question and present it to the signer again. He refused and told me he will be calling the NSA to see if I was right. He then calls back stating the NSA said I was right, but I needed to put my initials on the previous page where I scratched the old jurat and I needed to place a description of the document. He then said I printed or made my own Jurat. I actually used the jurat I downloaded from the SOS. As far as I know this description is optional it is not required and I was not told the lender was specifically requesting such description. To make the story short, he said I was being very unproffesional for refusing to comply with the lender and he was going to cut the aggreed fee. Every way I tried to make right in this signing, it was not allowed by the SS. It seems they were looking for any excuse not to honor the fee agreed.
