Reason being (intuitive reasoning on my part), is that the PCL5e driver handles TIF images in the PDF directly, whereas the PCL6 driver actually has to convert them before printing. Anyway, I have found that setting up an "additional" printer with the PCL5e driver and selecting it to print all my PDF files, that I have very few files that take forever to print. (Some of them are just plain imaged wrong... wrong size, wrong layout, etc.)
