CHRISTMAS NOW AND THEN IN STORIES AND SONGS
The second annual benefit performance by the Beaux & Belles will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 3:00 p.m., at the Monday Club, 610 Main Street, Fortuna, to benefit Fortuna Senior Services‘ programs. This concert is suitable for the entire family. The Victorian-costumed group will sing traditional carols along with some modern-day songs. The audience will be invited to sing along with traditional carols, Away in The Manger and I Saw Three Ships Come Sailing In. Music will be interspersed with readings of Christmas themed poems and stories. By special request from those who attended last year another section from Stubby Pringle’s Christmas will be read. A poem by e. e. cummings and an excerpt from A Child’s Christmas in Wales will be included along with a choral reading of The Christmas Alphabet. The audience will be invited to dance to The Christmas Waltz.
Beaux & Belles’ accompanist Carol Masterson on piano will be joined by Janet Sclar on the violin for two instrumental pieces. Nola Sharp on flute will join Carol and Janet accompanying several of the carols that the group will be singing. For further information contact director, Nanette Heidtman 725-3231.
This performance is co-sponsored by the Fortuna Concert Series. No admission charge, but all donations will be cheerfully accepted to benefit Fortuna Senior Services’ programs. Anyone over 50 is eligible to join Fortuna Senior Services and to benefit from their wide range of activities.
