After your season ends October 3rd, there are still two big races in Texas for anybody who would like to have a couple of more good times before putting up (or tearing down) their racer for the winter.
The first will be the Day of the Drags, at Little River Dragway near Temple on Saturday, October 17th. This is the annual event put on by the Kontinental’s Car Club. The Texas Timing Association has been inviting dozens of the best dragsters, altereds, and funny cars in Texas to this race for years, and we’re doing it again. Everybody always has a blast, and digs all the cool pre-’64 street-driven traditional hot rods. There’ll be a big cacklefest including nitro cars.
Two weeks later, on Sunday, November 1st, the TTA revives the Texas State Championships as a yearly end-of-the-season national event scheduled after every other vintage or nostalgia race across the country has been run, and all the important regional racing circuits (Outlaw Fuel Altereds, Southwest Junior Fuel, Southwest Superchargers, Central States Gassers, Nostalgia Super Stocks, etc) have concluded their seasons for the year. TTA’s vision is to bring lots of exciting cars from each of these major racing circuits, plus every traditional hot rodder and drag racer for hundreds of miles in every direction, to meet up at Northstar Dragway in Denton, TX for a don’t-miss-it final national event to wrap up the 2009 season for everyone.
