Posted by Robyn It's a little over a month away but I still have all these un answered questions and thoughts in my head. To paint a clear picture I must tell you that this is the first time I will ever go under anaesthetic and due to a very sad and scary childhood experience I am scared to death of them. I don't trust myself to be awake for the procedure so I have to opt for being knocked out. I'm so scared that my doctor has prescribed me valium to take before I go in. I guess my questions are will the valium dope me out enough but not so much that the doctor sends me away? Would they do that? I just need to be completely numb when I get in there otherwise I'll run out screaming with my arse hanging out of my gown (no jokes!) I know I'm a great big baby but it's a phobia that I have no control over. Also what happens if you vomit up some of the lovely stuff I've been reading about? Do I have to drink more? Will it not clean me out enough if I don't drink absolutely all of it? Or what if I can't hold it down at all?? Then what options do I have?? And lastly if you have haemorrhoids or a fissure will they hurt afterwards? I mean sticking a camera up there and moving it all about is bound to aggrevaite them surely? I hope someone can help me out. 39 days to go......

I've just made my booking for my first colonoscopy. I'm a 24yo Female who had enough symptoms to know better than to ignore them, hence the colonoscopy.
