Don't let them tell you that the sedative is like taking a "nap". With no warning I was put under with the sedative (VERSED) and I ended up at home sitting in a chair not knowing where I was at, how I got there, and not being able to figure out if I had ever left the hospital. After two days and nights of wandering around totally confused and afraid I ended up in the ER in a state of total panic. Was sent back home and tried to talk to the Dr. who did the colonosopy. I got as far as the receptonist before I hit their in house brick wall. I have spent The last three months with a therepist trying to get past the worry and panic attacks. Make sure they allow you time to fully recover from the sedative and make sure to get a phone number that the Dr. can be reached at. Once they put you under you cannot protect yourself. I really don't know how I am going to go back in five years and let them do this to me again. Is it really worth worth it?
