My psychiatrist was alarmed and angry that my colorectal surgeon even considered doing my colonoscopy last week under less than unconscious and memory free anaesthesia. She also said call everyday til they give you the lab results (which my Dc doesn't like to do). I have a call into my GP as a mediator because now I am confused. You must tell your colorectal surgeon who will do your colonoscopy your every concern. Don't be defensive or apologetic, but be sweet. Very few of us are not petrified or at least scared (those who bluster they are not I suspect of mental problems). I pulled out my IV and walked out of one hospital who wanted to do colonoscopy and upper GI endoscopy. Enough is enough I thought. But the exam is known almost without doubt to be worthwhile preventively, so it is a good idea to do it. So I did have one. It went OK. Uncomfortable, painful 4 or five times, a tiresome day getting ready, and a day of discomfort and lost sleep after. Now I got to do another one next week, but I feel a lot better about it this time.
