A lot of people have colonoscopies and they are painful, terrible experiences. The problem with mine was the drug versed; it does nothing for the excruciating pain that lots of people experience (they also give scant doses of painkillers, but it's not enough)....finally, an anesthesiologist explained that they like to gibe versed so that the patient is forced to be imobile and endure the pain; they give versed for it's AMNESIA effect......so you don;t remember what happened.trouble is, I sure remember and obviously a lot of people get traumatized by the experience and by this terrible drug.............after the anesthesia person explained versed to me, I withdrew my consent and left...he also said that most docs would never consent to getting versed; they just like to give it because it makes the test easier for them.............and a lifetime of nightmares for a fair number of patients.............what a wonderful way to treat patients.....................I'll get a virtual one, thanks...and, oh, the icing on the cake was that my doc (the one who insisted that I get versed)...later told me that he had his done without versed.............see a double-standard?????????????????? if you are having a colonoscopy, specify "NO VERSED" on the consent...if you need pain meds, specify "fentanyl only" and make the doc sign the addendum..............
