Why don't the gastro doc's tell people that the "sedation" is optional?????????? I'm a nurse and have had many, many people tell me that the amnesia drugs (versed) are the worst part of the procedure...and sometimes the amnesia can wreck you life........"conscious sedation" is fine if you want a chemical lobotomy for what should be a fairly simple, minimally invasive procedure.....................you don't need drugs, just get a doc who takes a little time and treats you like a human being............you don't need to have your memory blanked out.......I would NEVER get a colonoscopy with Versed/fentanyl/propofol/meperidine or any of these awful drugs and I'm, 55 with a bad history of colon cancer............sorry, I value my brain too much,,,,when I find a caring doc doc who will do it without the date-rape drugs, fine.....
