I have had IBS for several years. On a recent round of constipation i went to my internist, who referred me to a digestion specialist. On my arrival to the office, the staff quickly wanted a credit card on file from me. I explained I do not use credit cards, only a debit and I was not giving them access to my checking account. They were all flustered over that, then upon seeing the doctor, she asked me a lightening round of questions, wanted to schedule a colonoscopy, w/o reference to any other tests. No colon cancer in my family (I am 50). My question to the office staff before leaving was what my portion of the test is, $200.00. Shortly after my visit my bowels returned to normal. The medical profession is out of control, when I told them I declined to get the test, they wanted to know why?! That made my decision right there not to have a C.
