Casey & Jeanne - thanks for your input on sterotactic. I am currently in the position of absolutely refusing to have this procedure done. I have a lump that we are all pretty sure is benign, but it did not aspirate so they want to biopsy it. They had me scheduled for the stereotactic thing - which nobody bothered to explain to me what it was - and I was mindlessly going along with it until I read your post and decided - duh, I better find out what this is. Nope, sorry, I'm not a car to be hoisted up on a rack while some guy examines my brakes. I told my doctor I had no intention of being treated in this manner, and that I wanted to be put completely under and they can do a traditional biopsy with me on my back. The radiologist (a guy, of course) is angry that I'm not eager to try out the latest craze in patient-torturing devices, but I'm holding firm and told my doctor to just find me a surgeon who will remove the lump entirely on an out patient basis.
