Posted by Casey on 7/12/2005, 4:06 pm, in reply to "My Recent Experience" One of the worst pieces of advice I got was from the "scheduler" for the gastro who did my procedure. He told me, "Don't listen to anyone about this procedure. Don't read anything. It is a breeze. Everything will be over before you know it." Of course, he'd never had one. Also--he was dead wrong. It didn't go well. The doctor's technique was so poor that I ended up in an emergency room a day and a half later. She didn't give me enough meds and wouldn't give me any additional medication when I told her I was in pain. I had read about all these potential problems, but decided to trust the doctor. What a mistake I made.

I'm glad everything went well for you, Ned. And perhaps one reason it did go well is because you were well informed. I only disagree with one thing: I don't think that anyone can be over-informed or "read too much" as you stated.
