You will always feel something and for many, the procedure is painful. Versed blocks memory from the injection until it wears off (about 30-60 minutes) in about 8 out of 10 people, so the generally held medical system belief is that - if you don't implicitly remember any pain, it didn’t happen. Remember, it is a sedative and its primary purpose is to keep you from resisting during the exam. My exam notes from the attending nurse said “patient d/n complain of pain”. It hurt, I was given no analgesic and I can only attribute the notation to apathy.
