We're just the locations where they practice their procedures. And many of them never get past the point of practicing; they never reach a skill level above beginner. I still advocate that all medical personnel (drs and nurses, practitioners of any sort) should be required to undergo the procedures they will be performing before they are issued any licensure. The next time you are scheduled for a procedure (especially if they say, this will be only a bit uncomfortable)--ask the person how it felt when they had it done. Chances are very high they have never experienced the procedure, but they are "expert" enough to tell you how it will feel. And when it turns out the opposite, the doc is puzzled why he/she has lost the patient's trust.
