Posted by Casey on 9/14/2005, 10:36 am, in reply to "Post Colonoscopy" You need to find out what "follow up procedure" they are referring to, and you need to find another doctor. You also may want to request copies of your entire medical file and hand deliver them to your new doc. You need a copy of the colonoscopy report; that should note not only what was discovered (polyps), but also if the doctor talked with you, etc. I once received a call about having additional testing (not from a colonoscopy), and discovered that I had had "suspicious" test results (the doc's term on my records), and that I hadn't been notified because according to his nurse, "I called once, and you weren't available. That's all I am required to do." When I asked why I wasn't notified by mail, she said, "your insurance policy doesn't require that and it doesn't reimburse us for the postage so we don't do it." That's the kind of health care we have nowadays. I hope everything turns out okay for you, Sue.

First, I'm sorry that you have this happening. It's scary.
