Posted by Gram on 6/6/2007, 9:18 am PS Mariane is Mariane Pearl, wife of Daniel Pearl who was a journalist for the NY Times who was on assignment to the Middle East and who was trying to make contact with the terrorists to better understand their position. He was taken hostage, kept a while, and then beheaded a few weeks later. Mariane is also a journalist.
And Motorcycle Weekend is coming up. It's always Father's Day weekend. The races take place in Loudon which is next to Laconia and Weirs Beach, and attracts thousands of motocyclists. I find it exciting just to see a whole bunch of them coming down the road.
Well, 'Oceans 13' opens this weekend. This is a 'must-see' just for the fun of seeing all 'The Boys" in action again!!
Also a 'must-see' will be 'A Mighty Heart' which opens in a couple of weeks, I believe. My town's librarian started a Book Club last year and we take turns choosing a book for the coming month. My turn was last month and I chose 'A Mighty Heart' - we had an interesting discussion of it and we may go as a group to the movie. I hope to write a Book Review of it shortly: Mariane has written a very personal and human account of what happened when Danny went missing and the suppport she received (and didn't receive) from that day to the time when it was found he had been executed. In fact, two of her staunchest supporters were Pakistani policemen asssigned to the case, one of whom proclaimed himself godfather to Danny and Mariane's son, Adam.
She has also included a follow-up as to what happened to some of the people involved in finding Danny as well as including many of the letters she received. Very affecting personal touches.
Well, a little over a month and the Florida Invasion arrives!!! Everyone is looking forward to us all being together At The Same Time!!
