Hey John,
How goes it?
Yeah I saw the film last week. I hate to sound like a critic, but I found the film to be very interesting if you are familliar with Rob's previous work. However if you saw it because you are a traditional HALLOWEEN fan then I would say it probably isn't your cup of tea What I found interesting PERSONALLY was the first 35 or so minutes of the film. Michael's early years. I think if there is any candy to be found with this film it is in the beginning. As far as the rest of the movie goes I could have done without it PERSONALLY
However I had no expectations from this film at all whatsoever as far as the HALLOWEEN franchise goes. For those people who expected a carbon copy, or even updated version of the original. I could have gaurenteed that this film, or any other film would not, and could not make it happen For me I saw it because I am interested in film makers, and such. I think Zombie has an origional style, but then again I see more TCM influence in his work than I do Carpenter influence. His pictures are usually very RUSTIC.
I will admit it was interesting seeing a different film makers perspective of the ORIGINAL.
One thing I will say is this. The first 35 minutes or so of this film was probably IMO some of Zombie's best work to date. However I think the movie falls flat becuase it didn't seem to have that one KEY ELLEMENT. SUSPENCE
As far as the masks go hehehehe Thanks, but No Thanks.
