Mark Forrester, who holds degrees in both electronic engineering and nursing had altered the robotic arm to include extra length and axes, effectively humanising the machine. His explanation for the modifications was that the new arm was more sensitive and allowed easier negotiation around the curved landscape of the mammary glands. On the day in question, he began the exam by remote control from behind a glass panel. Speaking from the witness box, Ms. Marquez said "I have been examined by the robot before and I found it excellent.
