The problem you elude to is not one of "ringers" or paid players as it is the division these teams play in. With 5 and 6 divisions in most age groups every style of team has a place at the tournament but it is only honesty that will place teams where they belong. The MSBL World Series is without any doubt the greatest amatuer baeball tounament in the world. While smaller tounaments may offer some things a little better the overall tournament including field, umpires and all of the teams and players it is #1. I have been taking a team made up of 95% local league players for 6 years and only fill the 2 or 3 spots we can't fill from outside,we have a small league and travel 2500 miles for the tournament. Each year we have played in the Federal division and each year made the playoffs, we have yet to win the tournament but only once have we had a team that was playing way below there level. One improvement that could be made is adjustments to the "pro rule". To many teams are in the Federal because you get no addtional pros in the next level up. Possible a rule that states no ex-pros in the Central unless out a full 10 years, the same 1 pro rule in Federal, 2or3 in Continental and so on for top divisions. I also think all teams that finish 5-1 or better or advance to the final four should move up the next year. This is a great organization and a great tournament if we have ideas lets express them and continue to all attend.
