In response to the last post, I also find it heart wrenching that not many people were lending a helping hand. However, in those days it seems like everyone had enough problems of their own and so therefore it was basically every man for himself. Everyone was fighting the same fight during the Depression, granted some were better off than others before the Depression set in, but that is the way life goes. No one said it was fair.
