The loss of human life is always a sad thing. But the government does have the right to direct protests, even the ACLU believes that the government should have this ability. The government also has the responsiblity to protect private property. The peoples voices were heard and the police asked them not to go any further. When they did they used tear gas and when that didn't stop the people they used water. When that didn't stop the people they did what they had to to protect the people in the factory and the factory itself. It is to bad that it came to shooting but the police gave the protesters every chance. If they would have been allowed to storm the factory and damage was done then there wouldn't have been jobs in 6 months when the factory opened again. Ford offered his people more than anyone else because he knew that the more they were paid the more he got. He can't run a company that doesn't make money. He only closed to retool his factory so that he could reopen and start making a profit again. Ford didn't know when the depression would have ended. If he would have given all his money away to all the people in the US everyone would have only been so slightly better off that they wouldn't have noticed it. He had to look out for his family and make his business profitable which would then give the town tons of jobs and make everyones life better. If Ford would have given his money away he would have only been giving people fire which only helps them for a day, but by using his money to change his company he was able to effectively teach people how to make fire which helped people for the rest of there life.
