I seriously doubt that the United States government could become involved in many unprovoked wars a couple decades down the line. The reason why we decided to fight Iraq the first time with the first President Bush was that Bush wanted to protect an ally and US economic dependent country, Saudi Arabia, from being next on Saddam’s hit list after Iraq took over Kuwait. Though that war did relate to oil, Bush championed support from the UN and other nations. The current President Bush used the attacks on 9/11 as a way of drawing on the emotions of Americans and Congress to invade Iraq. He was mistaken to the evidence on which he used to invade Iraq so now Americans are predominantly anti-war especially in Iraq. After that, I seriously doubt that Americans will allow a President to take the country into a war without probable cause. Though the country is in desperate need for more oil for the growing number of Americans, I highly doubt that the mass public would allow lives to be placed in jeopardy over oil. Our country’s economic interest in oil would have to be jeopardized before the next oil war we enter.
