The problem is that the majority of groups, be it Napoleonic or 1812, are too far away for me to drill with them on a regular basis. While we all attend the same events, I assume that drilling is the most important. A group in the Ottawa-Kingston area would be fantastic, but I haven't yet been able to find a group that suits my taste. British or French hussars would be my number one pick, but as there are too few units in my area, and as I have a lack of experience riding, perhaps this just isn't realistic. Likewise, as there doesn't seem to be any Napoleonic groups in my neck of the woods, it is looking like a British/Canadian militia War of 1812 protrayal is what I'm left with. There is a fencible group in my area, and they seem to be a good bunch of guys, but the question is do I really want to invest over a thousand dollars in kit that doesn't specifically fit my interests? I wish I had the reenacting experience to start my own group, but I think that might be a bad idea since I wouldn't know where to begin with the drill, laws and regulations, and all the other mundane paperwork. Anyways, suggestions are always welcome.

I'm in south eastern Ontario. I've been looking to join a group for a few years now but I've had time constraints finishing up my degree and have been moving back and forth between Toronto and here.
