Posted by Tim S. Over the summer, the Historic New Orleans Collection hosted an exhibition on Haiti and it's links to New Orleans. In the exhibit, a letter of St. Geme's was displayed from Chief of Brigade Francois Netherwood, first aide-de-camp to General LeClerc to Captain St. Geme'. The letter is a request for St. Geme to send mules and horses to Cap Francois. The only unit marking on the letter is "7'eme Regiment D'Hussards". What unit would this be? The 7th Hussards re-enacting unit history doesn't list the Haitian campaign at all. Any idea what uniforms that unit might wear would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Here's a question that struck me I should ask here after I posted about the Chalmette Battlefield. One of the Captains of Plauche's Battalion at the Battle of New Orleans was Henri de St. Geme'. He was one of the known Napoleon veterans in the unit who settled in New Orleans at some point in time prior to the Battle.
