Posted by Michael Mathews The battle had the usual multi-national confusion about when and where to be, but the battle itself was pulled off with any visible hitches. The lunch was provided on the battlefield with typical German efficiency in souvenir bags. Though the "mystery meat" sausage was.... unique. ;-) The two hour battle was well contested on both sides. If there were safety issues they all involved artillery. Firing behind our backs, within a few yards with us slightly forward of them, blowing a French dragoon out of his saddle when he rode in front of the gun... etc. They again demonstrate a unique perspective on gun safety. And to cap if off, I was promoted to Sous-Lieutenant on Sunday on our field of honor at Hassenhausen following our regimental march from Bad Kosen. All the feedback I have received so far would indicate a well satisfied bunch of travelers. 9900 miles round trip for me! Vive l'Empereur! (and another great job by Mark) Michael Mathews

Another wonderful time in Europe was had by the men and women of the 21e and 3e Regiments de Ligne. Our trip took us to many historic places before the event including the battlefield on a tour where I found a musket ball, and another during the reenactment!
