The campaign in Saint-Domingue was bigger thant anyone could expect. The reason is that that was the richest French colony and it's trade was double to that of all the british colonies combined. In 1801, the First Consul send an army of 35,000 soldiers under the comand of his brother in law Leclerc. By 1803 only 9,000 remained. I am aware of the french having dragons in the island, bu not hussards. I do know that there was the 7e demi brigade (infantry).
