In Morgan's book Wellington's Victories he has the 1802 recruiting regs..."In the infantry, men...are not to be taken above 25 years of age, nor less than 5 ft.6 in. high; but growing lads from 17... may be taken as low as 5 ft. 5 [4] in...
A poster for the 17th dragoons in 1814 states they would take 16 year olds at 5 ft. 2in.!
I saw a breakdown of recruit heights somewhere and very few were above 6 ft. and 6 ft. 2 in. was the tallest listed. People weren't that tall back then.
