You are correct, as usual, Nigel; was only talking to a major venue booker about this subject some weeks ago. Schools now break up around the 19th/20th December so theatres try to book school parties before schools finish for the Christmas break; then rely on families during the seasonal break. Although some venues run shows after schools return, everything depends on the booking history of the catchment area. Was a facinating conversation!
