Qdos Casting

Yes, yes, I don't like being a negative bag but I'm interested to hear if I'm supported in this view or if people think I'm totally wrong, but it seems a shame that, in the last few years, Qdos have become really stretched on the casting/ quality front. I get it the casting shouldn't be the main factor, but as nice as it is to think people would flock to pantos (particularly non-theatre folk) regardless, it seems to remain a fact that it is the 'names' that are a large driving factor in sales. I often try and see a panto according to who's appearing because the title alone doesn't do it. Cinderellas for example, used to have at least a name for Fairy G, and Buttons and possibly even Baron as well, but Qdos seem to have taken on so many venues that they're splitting up the names as much as possible then getting someone who once auditions for the voice as fairy g's etc. I think Plymouth will be a prime example of this. It's a shame because, don't get me wrong, I love panto as an art form and they're great but sadly with the ever rising ticket costs I'm not sure if they've stretched themselves too much in recent years.
