I was working front of house at the time and it was sensational. The late Roger Kitter giving a masterclass as dame, Victor Spinetti chewing the scenery as the best panto villain I’ve ever seen, superb chorus and dancing, everyone taking the piss out of John Virgo throughout and, at the centre of it all, Jim Davidson as Dick - never the same two nights running - the perfect panto performer - totally at ease with his audience and never giving anything less than 100%. Made me love panto!
