Hi Joe
My veiw is to put unleaded in and put the money you save in a jar, if the valves do have seat recession then use the money you have saved toward the cost of having hardened seats fitted. The likelyhood of vsr is fairly small on an engine that has several years of lead impregnation, and work hardening, though it is not impossible.
Alternatively, you could use Lead Replacement Petrol, try to stick to one brand of petrol, different brands use different lead substitutes. Do not use Additives with LRP, they can react and cause problems.
: I have recently aquired a 1200 herald 1966
: vintage & would like information on
: type of fuel to use for ordinary bog
: standard running.
: the vehicle is a birthday present from my
: family to fulfill a longstanding wish to
: enjoy the past days of simple motoring.
: regards,
