Greetings -
I recently had to put my dog of 11 years down due to a largely inoperable ruptured disc that rendered him paraplegic.
I pretty much thought he was a Shiba since he was referred to us by a Shiba Rescue 11 years ago and looked like a Shiba. However, at 45-50 pounds (30 at 7 mos), I've recently come to believe he was probably a Jindo.
I need to fill the hole in my heart and the lack of that personality in the home.
I'm seeking to rescue another. I'd prefer a red male between roughly 1 and 5 years old. Red in the sense of similar markings to a Red Shiba Inu. I'm willing to travel or pay to ship to me near Raleigh NC or some combination thereof. I'm also willing to go through any pre-screening visits, referral checks, etc.
Ours is a moderate activity home with kids (no toddlers) and a border collie all accustomed to living with a primitive breed. I've also been trained one-on-one by a professional trainer on how to handle, train, and manage a primitive breed. I can give a referral to this company as well, though it was about 10 years ago. We have an acre of ground that is about half wooded. Our dogs live inside with us going outside to play with us, walk with us, or go hiking with us. Our dogs vacation with us as well.
I look forward to finding a new rescue dog ASAP.
Cheers,
Chris Rader
