Reference: “Salsa ´n Jazz” Concert - Samuel Quinto Trio - 2009 Tour
Latin JazzClub,
With our best regards, we hereby present to you Samuel Quinto’s most recent CD and concert entitled “SALSA´N JAZZ”.
Thirty five-year-old Brazilian Samuel Quinto is a self-taught pianist with a knack for jazz who has been living in Porto (Portugal) since 2004 when he formed his Latin jazz trio, having in the end of 2007 recorded his first CD in Portugal in this genre (entitled “Latin Jazz Thrill”, sold in “Fnac” stores and object of great demand abroad – Germany, Brazil, and Japan).
In Portugal he participated with his trio in the following events / locations:
- B-Flat – Matosinhos (2006, 2007, and 2008)
- Porto’s Queima das Fitas – Cine Jazz (2007)
- São João da Madeira Youth Week (2007)
- Estarreja Jazz Festival (2008)
- Douro Jazz Festival (2008)
- Trofa Jazz Festival (2008)
- 1st Porto Latin Music Festival (2008)
- Chaves Cultural Center (2008)
- Bragança Municipal Theater (2008)
- Ribeiro Conceição Theater – Lamego (2008)
- São João da Pesqueira Movie Theater (2008)
In Europe he has made two brief tours through Germany, France, and Belgium (2007 and 2008), having performed in music locations which received in the same week some of Jazz’s great names, such as Mike Stern, Dave Weckl, Anthony Jackson, and Aldo Romano (among others), such as:
- Altes Pfandhaus (Cologne, Germany-2008) – winner of the “Best
Showplace” prize that same year;
- Stellwerk (Hamburg - Germany – 2007 and 2008);
- Jazz im Dock and Schlot Jazz (Berlin - Germany– 2008);
- Jacques Pelzer Jazz Club (Liège – Belgium – 2008);
- Round Midnight JazzClub (Limoges – France – 2008).
Samuel Quinto was also invited in 2008 to direct two workshops related with Latin Jazz: one was organized by the Salvador, Bahia (Brazil) Catholic University; the other invitation was made by the “Jazz ao Norte” School (Porto, Portugal).
In this new project, published in May, 2009 the composer side of this excellent pianist flows intensely. Supported by the secure base of Brazilian Marcos Borges and by the spicy drumming of Cuban Manuel Santiesteban, the result is a “musical dish” full of seasonings and complicity, where Brazilian roots mix with Cuban rhythms, leaving a smell of a closer Africa.
It’s this delicious menu of ideas which we would like to show you in a unique and unforgettable concert that you can’t miss. Until then, you can delight yourselves with some of the songs from the old and the new work already available on www.samuelquinto.com.
Hoping for a positive reply to a partnership which we forsee as fruitful for both parties and at your disposal for any clarification or personal contact which may be necessary,
Yours truly,
Isabel Melo
