I mean the Sentry is an anomaly as far as super powers go. Nobody seems to be able to find a limit to his physical strengths or powers and if anything he seems to be on the level of Pre-Crisis Superman. I doubt even a direct nuclear blast would do much to him in a physical sense.
Ares is a God. And before you go nuts screaming about Wonder Man being more powerful than/or as powerful as a God, I know this already. The guy was made to defeat Thor and his fists hit as hard as Thor’s Hammer. What I am saying is as mighty as Thor is, he’s not a jacked up sociopath like Ares who would just as likely lob your head off with a battle axe than say Hi to you. Ares has the power of a God combined with the maniacal strength and mindset of a soldier amped up on his own adrenaline in battle.
In other words, in a fight the guy has “crazy retard strength” on top of being a master soldier, weapon’s master, tactician and strategist. Wonder Man is a great brawler, but he doesn’t have this particular skill set combination.
Ms Marvel isn’t a slouch in the powerhouse area either considering her absorption powers can amp her strength up enough to knock the Sentry out (provided she has a nuclear bomb’s power to absorb). She is also a competent leader, tactician and has had military training.
Now, Wonder Man is a powerhouse, there’s no denying that, but of the other powerhouses on the team, his strength has a known limit and he doesn’t have the military training that some of them do when it comes to fighting.
Now, what he has over the majority of them right now is a stable personality. Sure, he had his bout with lunacy in the past, but every ionicly powered being suffers from this every now and then when they’re powers go out of whack. Erik Josten and Count Nefaria can attest to this.
Now back to my point on Wonder Man not being a Skrull. I feel the battle against the Venom Virus in New York proved that at least he, Ares and Ms. Marvel aren’t Skrulls. The Skrulls are a deceptive race and have mastered giving themselves super powers through bioengineering, but they would not be able to hold off a Symbiote infection. After all that’s said and done, no matter how powerful they are, they are still not immune to those things.
Right now, my vote for who is possibly a Skrull is Lindy, the Sentry’s wife. I don’t care what his powers are, resurrecting the dead seems implausible to me. I know it can be argued that Lindy wants Sentry powered down because she’s afraid he’s lost his mind because she herself claims she doesn’t recall being killed by Ultron nor does she recall being brought back to life by the Sentry. She just knows The Sentry claims she was dead and now she wants Tony Stark to de-power him before he kills them. It all just seems too convenient.
Look at her corpse when the Sentry found her, she had taken a massive amount of physical trauma which I doubt anyone can sleep through. If someone stabs or punches you in your sleep, you wake up unless they destroy your brain first with a bullet or something, which Ultron clearly didn’t. She tortured Lindy and murdered her, taking her time doing it.
Even if torture becomes so painful that you pass out again once you awaken, you would still have been awake long enough to know you were being attacked. Lindy’s corpse had one eye open (the other was swollen shut from the beating) this says she at least opened her eyes during the attack since they don’t just snap open when you die.
My best guess from this is Lindy is a Skrull infiltrator. The reason she didn’t die was Ultron was trying to murder a human, not a Skrull who has total control over their organs and molecules. It would be easy to fake death and once Sentry leaves, to reform yourself as normal and claim his powers some how brought you back to life with no memory of the trauma. With that done it would be easy to play the worried wife of the “delusional” Sentry and play his team mates against him.
Also, if the real Lindy wanted to ask Stark to de-power her husband, she would wait until he was out of ear-shot of the conversation. If she was really concerned, she would not have let him overhear them with his super hearing. This would clearly demoralize the Sentry and weaken his resolve since Lindy is clearly his anchor to reality.
I think the best place to look for Skrulls is with the non-superhuman types on the Avengers like Black Widow and they’re support staff like Jarvis or close relatives like Lindy. They would be considerably easier to mimic and have access to all the stuff the Skrull invaders would need, like SHIELD and Avengers Tower.
So what do you guys think? Am I on to something?
