Because fans and a couple of writers have wanted to use the actor angle as a self absorbed, vain egotistical aspect spin for Simon, luckily it has never sticked. But even though it has never sticked it seems as if a superhero actor does involves some level of vanity. He didn't started as an actor, it was a direction Jim Shooter wanted to try with the character as he was leaving the book and David Michelinie ran with it. David Michelinie did great things with it and Gerard Jones too. I'm not saying I'm 100% against it but I don't think that's so unique that his character depends on it but again I see lots of potential in the character as it is and the acting gig just one take it or leave it characteristic that is not that important.

: I really don't follow that logic at all. Why
: would you want to take away the one truly
: unique quality about the character (even if
: it hasn't often been put to good use) and
: replace it with a stock "he's a
: rebel" characterization?

: Remember that in Guardians of the Galaxy
: Simon
: is a pretty rebelious character. I say that
: is exactly what Simon needs to get cool,
: become a fugitive working for the good guys
: and phase the character out of the actor
: thing. It hasn't served him well anyways.
