I always felt that one of the reasons why Simon seems to get the short end of the stick and doesn't get used more is that he is considered a "nice guy". It seems that to most writers and readers, "nice guys" are boring and not fun to write. Characters with attitudes like Wolverine, Deadpool, Hawkeye are considered more popular due in no small part to having chips on their shoulders and the anti-hero attitudes.
If done right this could keep Wondy in play for a long time. Of course since Bendis is writing this I don't hold out much hope for Wondy.

: I agree with Frank. Simon was on the Mighty
: Avengers first issues and he was just
: wallpaper as a nice allaround guy. It looks
: like he is getting some exposure now, if he
: has developed some kind of attitude that
: might be for the best. Its the Wolverines
: and the Ares the ones who always get the
: attention, this might be a good move
: actually.

: I don't know, I kind of like Simon having an
: attitude. Nothing wrong with him thinking
: it's a bad idea to put the Avengers back
: together. Maybe he'll join as the
: "reluctant Avenger". Perhaps
: Bendis is gonna use him to stir things up
: within the team, kind of like his West Coast
: days when he and would butt heads.
: I'm hoping for this, anyway.
:
: Whatever Bendis has planned, at least he's
: using Simon for now. We can only wait and
: see what the end result will be. Hopefully,
: it will turn out positive for Wondy!
