In the process of re-reading the run (this time with the issues I was missing) I came across the West Coast Avengers annual where the West and East are manipulated into fighting curtosy of the Elders.
In Thor fights Wonder Man, and Wondy does a fairly decent job holding his own but in the end he is no match for the God of Thunder.
The thought is definatly a cool one with those two powerhouses duking it out.
It makes me think about the missed opportunity of a Thor/Wonder Man showdown during Thor's melee of madness that was Blood and Thunder, back when that was crossing over with Silver Surfer, Warlock and the Infinity Watch and the Warlock Chronicles, they solicited that Wondy would be headed to Asgard, his first outing after getting his act together in Wonder Man #25.
For whatever reason though, it didnt happen, he ended up in a two parter guest starring Hulk (26-27) and a final two parter guest starring Spidey (28-29) before his title was canceled so he could go die in Force Works #1 (so stupid)
It makes you wonder if Wonder Man could beat Thor.
During Operation Galactic Storm, Wonder Man and Thor 2 (eric masterson) encounter Gladiator. Wonder man is beaten by Thor 2 defeats ol Purplehawk. Though in that instance, I think Thor 2 had some of his everyman luck working for him.
Afterall Wonder Man did beat Goliath (later Atlas on Thunderbolts) and Goliath was able to take down Hercules who is close in power level to Thor.
I think circumstances would come into play, Thor with Drax's power gem in Blood and Thunder would probably waste Wonder Man but regular power level Thor, I think Wonder Man would have a shot or at least give hiim a decent fight.
Enough of my rambeling, thoughts anyone?
