: To me it was the Serpent Crown storyline when
: he comes back from the dead from the first
: time on the comic books and all the cool
: stories that followed, the infatuation with
: Scarlet Witch, the Vision fight, the Nefaria
: Trilogy, hard not to fall in love to such an
: interesting character, one of the few human
: characters with Thor/Hulk power levels.
That's the same time I started following Wondy! I started reading "The Avengers" around issue 140. I liked Iron Man at the time and I saw him on the cover, so I bought it(or maybe my mother did, as I was a little 5th grader back in 1975!). At the end of issue 151, Wonder Man breaks out of a crate and mutters towards the Vision-"He did it...he's the one...the one who stole my mind..." Man, I was hooked. The mystery of Wonder Man's return had me. As we got to learn more about Simon Williams, he became "my guy". I loved how he was as strong as Thor, Namor and the Hulk, but he wasn't an arrogant, blow hard, out of control jerk. He was an everyday, down to Earth, nice guy. He wasn't cocky, just the oposite, he was unsure of himself and even scared at times. That's why I liked him. People criticize the character for being wimpy or soft but to me, that's what makes him special...he's just a regular guy who happens to be near indestructible.
