Posted by Lenord Thanks for writing. I can make a mount for you, not a problem. Cost might be a limiting factor however. I can also convert a larger/beefier mount to GoTo for you to mount your optics onto. This would be a very stable mount with your size optics. The third solution is to use the mount you have. Adding a small gearbox and stepper combination might be a good solution. Cost effective too. All of the mounts I convert to GoTo require gearing on each axis. I looked briefly at an EQ-2 mount. It appears to have gearing on each axis. Having a sufficient ratio is the second requirement. Using the gearing on your mount might work. I would need to raise the gear ratio up high enough to allow for smooth tracking. Getting to that ratio using the gearing/motor choices I currently use would be impractical as the gearing and motors I use are too large/heavy. Thanks --Previous Message--

Hi Marco,
I would need to find smaller gearboxes of a high ratio with a small, quality, stepper motor.
Let me look around and see what I can find in a small size stepper/gearbox combination.
In the meantime, can you determine the gear ratio for each axis ? It's really a matter of counting the number of turns of the slow motion control for one revolution of each axis.
Getting this ratio will help.

: i have just taken 1st step in astronomy and

: this is ok but i find the manual RA and DEC

: can you provide a goto system for this or
