Posted by Lenord You need only move each axis 1/4 of a revolution, counting the turns of the slow motion knob, then multiply by 4. The counterweight problem is common on all mounts. You need to do this without them on or with the scope and counterweights in balance. You should have more than 12 revs for the Dec. axis ?? The circuitry, electronics, handpad etc. can be re-used on different mountings. The steppers and gearing may need to be swapped out if they have too much gearing or too little. It depends on the mount you swap to. Also, the bracketry to secure the steppers and gearing will need to be changed if you swap to a larger/different mounting. Lenord --Previous Message--

Hi Marco,
: hi lenord.
:
: I think we might have to abandon the eq-2
: option because i found the RA finee control
: lever had no effect on moving the OTA with
: the counter weight set at the foot/end of
: the pole. I reset it halfway and the OTA
: began to move. i carried on turning the knob
: but did not find a stop point; i stopped
: when the OTA came into contact with the
: tripod. I then tried returning back but the
: OTA did not move because of the position of
: the counter weight. You probably understand
: why this is so. I am happy to proceed if you
: feel confident that this can be rectified;
: and if the 'goto' package can be utilised on
: either a eq3 or eq5, if i run into problems.
:
: The DEC = 12
: The RA = 36[i lost count!!]
:
:
: regards,
:
: Marco
