MOTH 2000 LIVES ON!!!
Posted by Robert Laferrière on 12/19/2005, 1:39:12 You know, I've technically been the administrator of this forum the whole time, and I think I've made a terrible mistake. When things started to die down, I stopped visiting it myself. Granted, as an administrator, I had the advantage of getting a little e-mail sent to me every time someone posted, so I at least read when people stopped by. But I haven't really done anything to contact anyone... and perhaps I should have. Regardless, here we are in 2006... almost 2007. There are cadets who JOINED in the year we went to SLC, who are coming to the end of their own cadet careers. As an officer with 6 Jim Whitecross RCACS in Winnipeg, I see plenty of those cadets every week. This is my first year with 6. I'm currently their Training Officer. For the two years previous I was with 191 West Winnipeg Rotary RCACS, also in Winnipeg, filling various roles from Supply to Assistant Training. I aged out of 170 St. James RCACS as a WO1 back in... god, I can't even remember... 2003? Anyway, a lot has happened with me. I'm a 2Lt now. I'm finishing up my 4th year of University, working on a B.A. in Drama and English, at the University of Manitoba. I'm hoping to take some college courses in communications once I'm finished and pursue a career in journalism. I think being a film or theatre critic would be one hell of a job. Since SLC, as a cadet, I went on Power in 01, and Exchange to the UK in 02. I aged out before I could go for my 7th summer camp, so I went to PEI for a bit of a trip, and then the next year, in 2004, I was a Flight Commander for the Introduction to Leadership Course in Penhold, Alberta. I did the same this past summer. You know, with all this time in cadets, I'm thinking it might almost be time for me to ACTUALLY age out... I love cadets, don't get me wrong, but I don't want it to become too much like work... and that means, not letting it become by primary focus. I'm hoping to find myself a more substantial career, and then, after a while, maybe come back to cadets then when. In any case, that's me, in a nutshell. I've been a busy guy around Winnipeg. I hope to hear from more of you. Tell the MOTHs of 2k who you still contact, and let them know that the site is still here. It would be nice to hear how you're all doing. Cheers, Robert Laferrière.

A big hello to all of you!
It's a game I've been playing since I was 12... and coming up on finishing 10 years in the program, I'm thinking it's almost time I moved on for a while.
Email me if you're in town. I'd love to catch up.
