MOTH 2000 LIVES ON!!!
Posted by SLC on 8/24/2002, 4:43:34 It’s been a long time since I stepped onto the flight line. I miss SLC. People don’t understand that it’s more than just a cadet course. It’s a philosophy for much more than just cadets. SLC, with all its traditions is cadet history. Being part of this history is indescribable. If you are an SLC grad reading this, you’ve been asked (or will soon be asked) “why should I go?” Your answer has probably been the same as mine….”because it’s an incredible course.” Then you are asked “well, don’t you just do drill and take classes all day?” “Yes,” You say back. Then they say again “why should I go.” And you’re lost for words, because SLC isn’t just a course that you can freely describe, it’s a family. The traditions, the tears, the friendships are all just initiations into the SLC family. It’s completely beyond words. Someone reading this who is not an SLC grad is probably marveling at how sappy and emotional this sounds, but like I say to my cadets, do the course, then you’ll entirely understand. Some people will never understand and decide to make life hard for SLC grads in cadets. F*** them, anyone who decides to be that mindless is obviously ignorant. Treat these people with respect regardless of how they treat you. Be the bigger person in everything you do. You are an SLC grad, you ARE the bigger person. Is that pretentious, or is it reality? WSNBM, you know what it stands for. Remember it. Make it reality. I remember, and even if I end up somewhere better in the future, I will still remember it, even though it’s been a very long time since I stepped onto the flight line. WSNBM/ONBP
