The Duzi is not a very enjoyable race unless you are a good runner and have trained hard, as it is 45km per day for 3 days and if the river level is low, you can run up to 20km per day with your boat. the race temperature is always around 40 deg C with 70% humidity, so can be hectic.
If anyone is wanting to go out some year, give me a call, I have done 15 Duzis and 4 "Non stop" Duzis, ( All 3 days together a month after the race). So I have a bit of experience to share.
There are many other enjoyable long distance races in SA, like the Fish, Drak Challenge, Umko. look at the SA canoe website it has all the links. www.canoesa.org.za
I am quite keen to do the Ardesh (Think thats how you spell it) in France next year I think it is in November, anyone else interested.
