Macclesfield Leisure Centre (Macc LC) are looking at offering kayak courses in their pool. To do this they need to train some of their staff to be L1 Coaches.
Gareth Field has offered to help them, including possibly providing a L1 Coach training and assessment course for them in Macclesfield.
Gareth said if any MADCC members are interested in this, there should be space on the course. It will be run locally and probably at low cost.
MLC are looking for the training to be in early or mid July. The course is 4 days. It might be during the working week, or might be over a couple of weekends.
We wondered if you might be interested in attending the L1 Coach course? It is a good opportunity!
For Bank Based L1 coaches there are no prerequisites for the course. Boat Based coaches would need the old 2* Star in both Kayak and Canoe, or the new 2* Kayak/Canoe Test, and Foundation Safety & Rescue (a 1 day course). If you need these we should be able to arrange them at quite short notice, probably within the club. Or they are available at the NW Paddle weekend on 20/21 June.

We need to tell Macc LC / Gareth whether anyone from MADCC is interested by Mon 11 May, so that they can arrange things accordingly.
Please would you let me know by Friday 8 May whether you might be interested, so that I can give Macc LC an indication of possible interest.
If you are interested, could you manage the 4 day course during the week, or prefer it over 2 weekends?
